Happy 11.11.11 Veterans Day
Happy Veteran's Day for the only 11.11.11 that will ever occur in our lifetimes!!!
Thank you for wearing your patriotic red, white and blue today in honor of all the veterans-people who served in any of the military branches (whether there was a war or not).
Two "sailors" honor the veterans in the families of Team Greene and Team Rolen on our "Wall of Heroes". The students learned about the branches of the military, the significance of November 11, and the definition of veteran. Your student should be able to tell you that a Veteran did not have to fight in a war, they just had to serve in the military at one time. They should also be able to tell you that November 11th was picked as the holiday date because it was the day WWI ended.
Mrs. Greene's father, an AIR FORCE Vietnam veteran, stopped by our room to speak to our class. We asked him to pose near our "Wall of Honor". He holds a picture of his father (Mrs. Greene's grandfather) who is a NAVY veteran of WWII
